Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s Long Struggle Ends Finally, Portland Cement Ownership Confirmed By Court

The case of Portland Cement was first registered at the Lusaka High Court. However, the final statement from the court arrived more that a decade later. At the same time, this decision was extremely controversial which prompted Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani to further approach Court of Appeal. The results from Court of Appeal is known to all. Justice Mwinde on behalf of the Court of Appeal declared Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani as the majority shareholder with 58 percent shareholding of Portland Cement through his company Finsbury Investments. At the same time, the judge also declared that the Ventriglias only had 42 percent Zambezi Portland shares through their entity Ital Terrazzo Limited. This shareholding pattern which was also confirmed to be aligning with original shareholding established from year 2007 further confirms that Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is the actual owner of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.
