Dr. Rajan Mahtani Maintains Ethical And Transparent Path, Achieves Success With Portland Case
For Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, business acumen comes naturally. He is the owner of some of the most successful companies in Zambia. Despite these successes, Dr. Rajan Mahtani faced one of the biggest challenges in his entrepreneurial and business career in the Portland Cement Zambia case. The factory was under leadership of Dr. Mahtani for a long time and flourished into one of the largest producers of Portland cement across the nation. However, things took a dramatic turn when the factory was unethically taken over from him. To regain his leadership of the factory, Dr. Rajan Mahtani pursued the Lusaka High Court for quick justice. A case was registered and all evidences were submitted before the court. However, the nation of Zambia is notorious for its unethical practices, corruption and inability of the government bodies to provide justice. The Lusaka High Court, despite stretching the case for more than a decade, was unable to provide judgement in this case. In the year 2017, justice Nkonde on behalf of the Lusaka High Court announced Ventriglias as the only shareholders of the Portland Cement Zambia.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani is among those few businessmen in Zambia who have remained transparent and ethical. At the same time, he is also among those never bowing down to corruption and extortion. After the dismal judgement from the higher Court of Appeal, Dr. Mahtani rightly approached the Court of Appeal with all evidences and testimonials. Justice Mwinde on behalf of the Court of Appeal evaluated these evidences and gave his final decision on 31st January 2019. According to this decision, Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the majority shareholder and therefore, the legal owner of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.
