Philanthropy Award From Forbes Accepted By Dr. Rajan Mahtani

After several decades of passionate philanthropy work, Dr. Mahtani’s contributions were finally recognized. It is the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award and is given to the main leaders within the discipline of business and philanthropy. Forbes recognized the contributions made by using Dr. Rajan Mahtani over the last four many years and conferred him with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. Portland Cement Factory Ownership Unchanged Despite Claims By Private Business Family

Portland Cement Zambia is a cement-manufacturing factory that remained under dispute for a long-time. This dispute was associated with  majority shareholding and legal ownership over the factory. The first claim registered was by Dr. Rajan Mahtani himself, at the Lusaka High Court . Dr. Rajan Mahtani claimed that the majority ownership of the factory was with Finsbury Investments, a company owned by Dr. Rajan Mahtani. Despite this, the Ventriglia family took over the factory in an unethical manner. However, the Lusaka High Court dragged the case for more than a decade and gave its final decision on the case only during May, 2018. Even this decision was controversial as the Ventriglia family was announced as majority shareholder without any legal ownership over the factory. Supreme Court Rests The Case Of Portland Cement Along With Claim By Ventriglias

The Supreme Court Zambia recently put an end to the case of Portland Cement Zambia. This claim was brought up to Supreme Court Zambia by the Ventriglia family with claims that the decision from the higher Court of Appeal was wrong. On 31st January 2019, justice Mwinde on behalf of the higher Court of Appeal reversed the previous decision from the Lusaka High Court and announced that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the ultimate owner of the Portland Cement Zambia . Now the Ventriglia family challenged this decision at the Supreme Court. At the same time, the Ventriglia family also claimed that the actual amount against majority shares will be K580 million and not K580,000 as finalised by the higher Court of Appeal.
